2 Million Cats and Dogs Skinned Alive in China.
Today's dog and cat news is not pleasant but it must be known that this horrific practice is taking place right now in China. Now with the Olympics approaching is a time the world can let China know that that they find this incredibly cruel. I have found this article on the matter but you can visit PETA's website for more detail.2 Million Cats and Dogs Skinned Alive in China.
"So here are millions of helpless cats and dogs and no one will come to their rescue but we will travel there to watch the Olympic Games. It amazes me that we -a country of cat and dog lovers seem helpless to do anything to stop this horror. Of course, if we do have the will, then what can we do? Some of you may do what I and others will do - we will boycott the Olympics. I will not watch them on TV. I hope that a lot of advertizing dollars will be lost as a result. Sadly, I doubt that many will take this action. I find we commiserate for a whole minute and then -it's over and back to business as usual."

Dogs and Cats Get Along Just Fine
Today's dog and cat news features an article published in Live Science written by Stephan Reebs which is very interesting. It says:Dogs and Cats Get Along Just Fine | LiveScience
"Humankind's two best friends don't always fight like cats and dogs, a new study shows. When living under the same roof, the alleged antagonists often get along swimmingly, in fact—especially if they're introduced at a young age.
Neta-li Feuerstein and her graduate advisor, Joseph Terkel of Tel Aviv University, surveyed 170 Israeli households with both a cat and a dog as pets. Two-thirds of the households reported an amicable relationship between the species. Indifference prevailed in a quarter, and less than a tenth reported fighting."

Here's an excerpt from the article which starts off with a pet owner whose beloved dog has had hip dysplasia since he was young:

Human panel judges cat food
In today's cat and dog news, I found this interesting article about the value of human cat food samplers. It says:14 WFIE, The Tri-State's News Leader: Human panel judges cat food
"In a new Journal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition paper, Dr. Pickering explains the potential value of having people rate cat foods. For example, he believes it might enable manufacturers to understand why your cat favors certain foods. While manufacturers conduct trials to see what felines prefer, it's difficult to know exactly which flavors or textures the kitties are responding to, he explains."
It is simply because cats can't verbalize what they like or dislike and humans do seem to rate cat food successfully..
