In my search for dog and cat news, I found this article about a new company in the U.K. that rents dogs..BBC NEWS | UK | Magazine | A dog that's not for life
Here is an excerpt from the article:

Rent a dog! That's amazing.... I don't want to keep a dog full time but I would definitely "rent" one and take it for a walk.
I guess you can also do that for an elderly neighbour who may not be able to walk theirs as often as they would like.
Maybe there should be a "walk your elderly neighbours dog" day!
